X3 Art Exhibit attended by more than 70 people
12 paintings sold by end of opening
The X3 Art Exhibition opening held in the Lobby Art Gallery on March 7, 2023 was attended by 73 people and had sold 12 paintings by the end of the night. The opening was supposed to last 6-8 p.m., but Arts Center Manager Melissa Sturgis stayed in the Gallery until 9 p.m. so that patrons could purchase art.
"The turnout for X3 was very impressive, and playing a role, however small, in assisting artists with selling their work is very rewarding," Sturgis said.
X3 featured painters MJ King, Gayle Miller and Lee Ann Zirbes, all of whom have sold work from the exhibit.
The Simpsonville Arts Center does not charge artists fees to display their art or take commission on sales. Sturgis said the Arts Center hosts art exhibits to simply promote arts and culture in Simpsonville.
"The Arts Center was created to serve the public, and free exhibit openings of quality art that artists can freely sale is a great way to serve the public," Sturgis said. "We can't wait for the next exhibit."
