OUR

Amazing Artists

Make and Believe Artists & Photography

Meet Alicia

Hello! I am the Owner/Lead Artist at Make and Believe Artists. I grew up in a family of artists, surrounded by the smell and feel of my parents' watercolor paints, stained glass, oil paints and sculptures. I have studied art throughout my life both formally in college and extensively in my spare time. My favorite media are acrylic paints, ceramics and photography, which I practice professionally. I have taught both children adults for decades and am excited to bring this all together in this studio.

Make and Believe Artists is a vibrant art school for both kids and adults. We offer ongoing classes, one-time workshops, birthday parties, camps, family art nights, and more. Our instructors are experts in their fields and enjoy sharing their talents through teaching others. For more information contact me at 864-245-3977

Blackbird Music Academy

Meet Julie

I am the owner/instructor of Blackbird Music and started playing around with music at the age of 4. My parents used to take me to concerts and would play vinyl records by various legendary artists and that inspired me to play the piano and start singing.

I started performing in bands at the age of 16 and learned guitar and bass along the way. I decided to turn my passion into a career and got my degree in Music from Atlanta Christian College, focusing primarily on vocal performance and coaching.

Originally from New York, I moved  to Greenville and in 2017 I opened Blackbird Music Academy. I teach students of all ages how to master the Piano, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Voice! When I am not busy teaching I like to spend time with my husband and my dog, exploring, traveling or watching the Yankees game.

Gerri Hyman Art

Meet Gerri

I am a painter and a creator residing in Simpsonville, SC. After 15 years of running a successful business selling reproductions of my coastal art to retailers in the US and Caribbean, I decided it was time to focus on painting pretty much full-time and give up the daily grind of running a wholesale business.

I rediscovered my love for painting and creating and have found that abstract painting is my passion. My abstract art is brilliant with color, interesting shapes, and patterns. I also enjoy painting lots and lots of paper

to use in collage pieces. It’s a tedious process but I am always pleased with the results!

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina and taught elementary school art for several years. I continue to teach children and adults privately. I am married to Gary Hyman and we have 3 sons, 2 daughters

in law, and a grandson.

Selene's Fabric Art

Meet Selene

My art is my attempt to recreate the beauty of the world with fabric, a journey I started as I was searching for a way to channel my creative side into something I would enjoy.

The use of strong colors is a direct influence of my Brazilian heritage. Inspiration for my art pieces comes from places I travel to, conversations with friends and family, my daily surroundings.

I look at what is around me with inquisitive eyes and mind, with curiosity, knowing there are hidden treasures to be found.

Pamela's Pots

Meet Pamela

I have been involved with pottery since 1998 acquiring a professional craft: clay degree early on. I have lived across the US, traveled abroad, and found each area an inspiration to my clay creations. My work is viewed through invitation and announcements via my digital mailing list.

Generous Earth Pottery

Meet Karen

I began making pottery over thirty years ago. At the time, I was a Critical Care Nurse, and I immediately fell in love with the focus and calmness that working with clay required of me.

Several years ago I gave up my nursing career in order to concentrate on my pottery, and develop my small business. At this time I also began working with glass fusing. I thoroughly enjoy working with both mediums and love the balance the two arts provide.

I am inspired daily by nature and the colors in our world and love incorporating this into my artwork.

THE ESSENCE OF QUOLOR

Meet Athelius

Born in Wichita, Kan., Athelius D. Pearson is a product of a family of 12 brothers and sisters. Being raised in an industrial farm town limited his exposure to the arts. However, in his late 20s Athelius established an interest in visual art and began to explore self-expression using varying mediums. It is through this exploration that he established his signature styles of 2D work, which include oil and acrylic on canvas and polished copper.

Athelius's subject matter reflects African American History, early jazz culture, family, African culture, and life in the abstract. His body of work has been viewed at several galleries and spaces, which include but are not limited to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Jazz Festival New Orleans, and the Annual Essence Festival.
